And we know you’ll want to look gorgeous when you step out to get some vitamin D! So we asked one of Yubi’s beauty vloggers to create a step-by-step guide to their summer glow up makeup look.
Don’t worry, you don’t need to be a professional makeup artist to look this fabulous, the tutorial is super easy to follow along at home so you can emerge your best self e’ery darn day!
It’s amazing how many people don’t think about this step but staying hydrated is the solid foundation to glowing up for the summer! Dehydration immediately puts pay to radiant skin, so make sure you drink lots of fluids to give it that extra boost (and no, we don’t just mean coffee).
According to Pamela Marshall, co-founder of Mortar & Milk and clinical aesthetician, “Internally, our skin is both hydrophilic [attracted to water], and lipophilic [have an affinity to lipids], meaning we need both water and lipids to keep it hydrated. Foods like nuts, seeds, avocados … can have a positive effect on the overall hydration levels of the skin, as well as the dermal levels.”
In addition to water and essential fatty acids from our diet, maintaining a consistent skin care routine with a moisturizing step is also integral to promoting healthy hydrated skin.

Use face primer to smooth out any lines or rough patches. Not only will this ensure your makeup is easier to apply, but it will also help to keep your makeup fresh all day long, give your skin a natural summer glow, and keep your foundation fabulously matte!
Great, your skin is prepped and primed! Time to apply your foundation.
Add small splodges to the main areas of your face, including your forehead, nose, cheeks, and chin, then use acruelty-free makeup brush to gently dab and blend it in. If you’re using a makeup sponge, make sure you’re using it wet to achieve the best results.
Top tip: for lighter coverage, try mixing your foundation in with your moisturizer or use BB cream instead.

Concealer makes it quick and easy to mask dark circles, large pores, discoloration, age spots, or any other small blemishes visible on the skin. Simply apply on areas you wish to conceal and lightly blend using your makeup sponge or brush. You may wish to use this around the nostrils, under the eyes, or on top of acne flare-ups.
To achieve that bright eyed summer glow, use your concealer to draw sun rays underneath your eyes and blend out.
Want to know how to effortlessly glow up for summer? Applying bronzer or blush to the apples of your cheeks is one of the simplest and yet most effective makeup steps to get that gorgeous radiant look. Smile, apply your product, and blend up and out towards your temples.
We suggest only using your blush or bronzer lightly at first, as applying is much easier than removing! Looking for more intensity? Simply layer up for a bolder look.
Top tip: if things go a bit clown-shaped, don’t panic and scrub off all your makeup! Try layering some more foundation on top of your blush instead.
Use a contour stick to fluidly draw lines around the jawline and hairline, under the cheekbones, and along the sides of the nose. This will achieve a gorgeous shade and light effect that will shape your face and beautifully define your features.
A quick sweep of cream eyeshadow across the eyelids will give you that shimmery glazed look that is oh so glam but oh so effortless! This single wash of color removes all of the hassle associated with blending multiple shades of eyeshadow but still creates an iridescent summer glow.
To top off the look, make your eyes pop by lightly applying mascara to the lower and upper lashes. No need to layer or thicken them, 2021 is all about the minimalistic look so a few fast swipes from the base to the tip of your lashes is all that’s required here.
Prep your lips with a gentle balm to ensure they look moist and soft. Let the moisture sink in a little and then curl out your lips to resemble a duck’s beak (as if you’re disgusted at something) and apply your favorite lip gloss for some extra summer shine!
